Establishing of "UZKAZTRADE" Joint Venture will assist in reducing of prices for meat and flour in Uzbekistan

“In the territory of Akmola and Kostanay regions, by the end of 2023, a project will be launched for the joint cultivation of grain and fodder crops for further export to Uzbekistan. In the near future, the Uzbek side plans to visit the regions to determine land plots and terms of partnership,” said Arman Shakkaliyev, First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, speaking at the Asia Grain Conference in Almaty. According to the official, the joint projects also include the construction of a feedlot for 20,000 heads of cattle and a meat processing complex, as well as a plant for processing fruit and berry crops in the Turkestan region. In addition, it is planned to create a grain processing cluster for deep processing of up to 1 million tons of Kazakh grain and launch a project for refining vegetable oil at the site of the Central Asia International Center for Industrial Cooperation. As part of expanding trade cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, a joint export-import company UZKAZTRADE has already been established, 50% of which belongs to Kazakhstan's QazTrade and 50% to Uzbekistan's UZTRADE. The foreign trade company will assist businesses in increasing mutual deliveries of products and entering the markets of third countries, developing proposals for removing restrictions and barriers in mutual trade. At the initial stage, it is planned to purchase fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to meet the needs of the Kazakh market.
